About Me

Tuesday 7th April 2015

Hi there, thanks for checking out my website.

Now before you read on, I just want to point out that this blog is not an advertisement for DHI in any way, I merely wanted to document this exciting chapter of my life and to help fellow follicly challenged men (and women) with information regarding what happens before, during, and after an FUE Hair Transplant. More about why I chose to go with DHI (Geneva) below.

My name is Ryan, 32 years old from the east coast of Queensland in Australia. I’ve been losing my hair since I was around 20 or so which has had a major impact on my self-esteem. Being in your early twenties, you should be full of life and confidence (and thick hair!), but not me. Every day you’re forced to look in the mirror and see your hair slowly but surely receding further back and getting thinner and thinner. Yeah sure, you do gradually become more accustomed to the ever evolving larger forehead, but you never stop wishing it wasn’t so.

For many years I was using a range of different products and medications to help stop the balding/thinning. I used Rogaine for probably around 7 years on and off. I feel as though I did see some results using it, but I just didn’t like the idea of putting all those chemicals on my scalp everyday. Plus once you stop, the balding will continue. I then added Propecia (Finasteride) to my regime which I used in conjunction with Rogaine for a number of years. It did slow down the process and I would have much less hair now if I didn’t use it. But again, more chemicals going into my body. Lastly I tried using a Laser Comb which I don’t think did much at all.

I’ve been doing a lot of research over the past year on HT’s (hair transplants). I came across the FUT method which basically means they cut quite a large strip out of your scalp from the back of your head and harvest the donor hair from that. No thanks. Next was the FUE method, which I thought was perfect as you won’t be left with a huge scar, plus the recovery time is much quicker.

I had almost booked with another clinic in Belgium who perform the standard FUE method, before I came across DHI. DHI is very similar to the normal FUE method, but the normal way is to harvest the hair from the back of the head, then cut a small slice into the area where that follicle will be implanted. DHI don’t do this, they use their own unique tool which removes the cutting process all together which I thought was great as it reduces the healing and recovery time. I won’t go into the technical details, but you can find them on their website here DHI Global

I have recently relocated to Switzerland with my girlfriend for about a year. Being only half an hour from Geneva it made sense to go with DHI Geneva.

That pretty much sums up my story. I hope you stick around as I will be updating the site quite regularly with information and photos of my journey to thick beautiful hair.

Please feel free to leave a comment on any of the pages and I’ll try to respond asap.

Hairs to you,
Ryan

2 Weeks Out

14th April 2015 Well, two weeks to go until my DHI hair transplant with DHI in Geneva (April 29th and 30th 2015). I am still relatively anxious about the whole ordeal, but I regularly search for successful DHI before and after photos which helps put my mind at ease.
